6 Ways To Start Your New Years Resolution Now

Let me guess: there are things about you that you’d like to improve. Welcome to the club that includes pretty much every living person! We all want to stay fit, spend less, be organized, find a better job, improve our lives, or just do something good for ourselves, and many wait until January 1st. But why wait? Start today! This is why.

1. Because you can accomplish a lot between now and the new year.

Want to lose weight? Eat right and exercise every day starting today. As of this writing, it’s 12/19/2015. If you started today, you’d lose 2-4 pounds by New Years Day. Not a bad way to kickstart 2016, huh?

2. Time isn’t even real.

It’s all an illusion, and guess what: you aren’t guaranteed a tomorrow. So if there are changes you want to make, make them now!

3. The right time is now.

If you want to make a change, don’t wait to make it. If you want to quit smoking, quit now. If you want to start exercising, start now. There’s no time like the present.

4. You’ll be more likely to succeed.

If you base your positive life changes on a date, you may lose energy for it. If you do it because you know it’s right to do it now, you’ll be more likely to stick with it.

5. You’ll experience a bit less pressure.

That’s right, people make resolutions and then they feel pressure to stick with them, even feeling guilt if something goes wrong. Remember, you’re making changes for yourself.

6. You won’t be so hard on yourself.

New years day arrives and we decide we want to do something awesome like buy a home this year or lose 100 pounds. But these are big tasks! It may take a long time. You may fall off the wagon. If you just started now, you’d be more likely to succeed and less likely to set unrealistic goals.
