Every year, thousands of artists partake in an event known as Inktober. For the 31 days that make up the month of October, they ink a drawing every day in order to depict a common theme. Artist Shawn Coss decided to do something different for this Inktober and depict mental illness within his work. It’s not happy, it’s not joyful, and it’s not traditional by any means, but it raises awareness for mental disabilities that plague millions.
It also provides those suffering from mental illness with a means to visibly identify with their afflictions. His work is powerful. Take a look.
